I have always had a problem with advertisements because they make girls all house moms who have to abide by this image. This ad takes the guy and puts him in the house wife situation. You never see that anymore. There are so many stereotypes because the media pushes them upon all of us. Girls have to be with a guy, they have to raise the children and take care of the home while the men work. It is not fair to throw that onto someone. Everyone should be able to choose their role in life and this advertisement kind of plays a fun joke on the reader. The media needs to have more advertisements like this and stop putting everyone into stereotypes and categories.

Activism is a very big part of EMAC. Making projects or videos that catches the audiences eyes. These two videos are similar but also very different. They both have very different ways of catching an audience. These two videos are about the same cause which is legalizing gay marriage and they both have something in common, the F word but they have a very different format.

One was a video with Lilly Allen’s song F*** YOU in the background. There was a variety of faces just singing along to the song and pretty much saying they are still going to do what they want to do even though they are gay. I really liked the video and thought it was very appropriate even though there was a curse word in the song.

The other video that supports gay marriage is FCKH8. This campaign was done to raise money by purchasing the shirt everyone is wearing in the video, but this video had some controversy. There were kids in the video who were cussing at whoever is watching. Even though I support the cause I think the way the campaign was made was too upfront and impersonal. They were just yelling at the screen and even though what they say is true, it is distracting to watch and really care about the meaning.

Digital art is a chance to bring imagination to life. Lets take the movie Avatar, some many not enjoy the movie due to the poor plot line, but the animations in that movie were amazing and it all has to do with digital art. When you take the tools the computer has to offer, or one that many people have programed like photoshop, and ones imagination, I think anything is possible. I love how real the animations look and how detailed they can make everything. I wish I had that talent but instead I can write about how amazing it is.

This photo I found on Flikr, but looking at it makes me imagine a whole different world. the power that technology holds and how much it can advance our creative mind is the beauty of technology.

• Witness.org – People can post videos from anywhere in the US and everyone can see that poverty is in every state, some more then others. Seeing makes people believe more and want to help.
• Map of the US – People can donate to which ever state and a pin or post it will go on the state so people can see that it is all over and they can donate to where they think poverty is the worst.
• Twitter -People can post pictures or links to the videos and more donations.
• Facebook – another site to post pictures and videos, just more coverage.
• Youtube – more videos
• Flikr- Pictures can be a creative commons so anyone can use to see them.
• If there are enough donations there can be a day where every state chooses a location that has the worst poverty and come together to bring canned foods, clean, and take more videos and pictures to prove that America is helping. Big groups show more change.
• Large corporations that throw away food at night to donate to the day event.

We talked about the cloud previously in class. The cloud concept is a great way to keep people connected. Do you know what the cloud means? It virtually means you can get any of your information from any place. So if you have things saved on your computer at home, you will be able to access it from another computer somewhere else.

I love this concept so much. When it comes to privacy and security it seems to me to be a bit iffy but to just be able to get all your information virtually anywhere at any time is extremely useful. We are a fast working society and we have come accustomed to always having some kind of access to the internet which makes us virtually attainable at any time. It can be a good and bad thing, but we still all want what we need when we need it. The cloud concept helps us achieve just that.

To have people give out their artwork brings more and more ideas and passion to everyone around them. Sharing work and spreading work shows others your passions and sometimes it makes others want to express themselves as well and share it with the world.

To have a community sharing their works with everyone and letting them use it for free surprisingly could help the community. Nine Inch Nails lets people download their music for free (which everyone does anyway but illegally) and by that they had a sold out concert. More and more artists are doing the same as well because they know that people do not pay for things that they can download for free.

Flickr is a major community of pictures that have a creative commons. Many people share their photos and works of art. I do not have a flickr account but the more I look at their photos the more I want to have an account and contribute some of my work to the community. Give a penny, get a penny.

Woah Burger King! You already had a lot of problems when you aired Paris Hilton in a skimpy swim suit washing a car and eating a burger but this commercial actually annoys me much more. Seeing only men getting out of bed and getting ready for the day like they are the only ones who bring home “the bacon”. This commercial displays several men “marching” to work and getting their burger king breakfast before work. There is only one girl in the whole video who is a working women and the other girl is just portrayed as a “hottie”.

Burger King is subjecting men as the only people who wake up early and do all the work for the house. That is not true, it is insulting to only put one working lady in the whole commercial. The sexist commercials bring people down and make them seem like helpless figures in life. I want to see a commercial with equal men and women going to work.

Youtube is nothing like Witness.org. Youtube has thousands of random useless videos that just make people laugh. Unfortunately the videos on witness.org attracts different scenes. A lot of sadness and worry comes from watching these videos. It is a good thing. It shows reality and how much trouble is going on in the world. We are all distracted by all the glitter and glam that is put out into the world but people need to see the true struggles that are happening. It might not be happening in front of them but it is going on in the world. If there is something that you have seen that needs to be changed, film it, post it online, make people see the truth! The TRUTH can equal CHANGE.

This particular commercial does show the father saying something about him being with a girl and he does not show that it is okay for his son to be gay, but the fact that McDonalds did do a commercial of someone being homosexual and it being okay is an amazing thing to see. “Come as you are.” They are saying it is okay for them to be in there and be a homosexual. If more and more advertisement or media showed this then maybe people would start seeing it us as normal and not a minority.
